Overview
Set a default identity check method for all DocuSign e-signature workflows. This setting applies to all recipients unless a user overrides it during setup.
Prerequisites
- DocuSign is selected as your e-sign vendor
- Parent Admin access
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Go to App Settings.
- Select E-Sign Settings.
- Open DocuSign Properties.
- Find Default Identity Check Method.
- Choose a value from the dropdown:
- No Identity Check
- ID Check
- SMS (Text)
- Phone
- Live ID
- Salesforce
- Yahoo
- OpenID
- None (no default)
- Click Save.
Notes:
- This field appears only when DocuSign is the active e-sign vendor.
- If DocuSign is not configured, the field is disabled with a message: “This setting is only available when DocuSign is your configured e-sign vendor.”
- Only Parent Admins edit this setting.
- Users cannot change the default method, but can override it on the E-Sign screen if needed.
How the Default Is Used
- All recipients in e-sign workflows receive this identity check by default.
- Users can override the method per recipient during setup.
- When adding a new recipient, the system assigns the default automatically.
- If the selected method is not supported in your DocuSign account, the system falls back to None.
Troubleshooting
Field is disabled
- Confirm DocuSign is set as the e-sign vendor.
Cannot edit the setting
- Confirm you have Parent Admin access.
Method missing from dropdown
- DocuSign controls available identity checks. Contact your DocuSign admin to enable more options.
Recipients show no identity check
- The selected default is not supported. The system uses None in this case.
